  • Exposure World Press Photo 2008 landed Friday in Vitoria sixth year to show the harshness of reality through the eyes of 59 photojournalists striking snapshots captured in 185 .

    The image captured by Britain's Tim Hetherington reflects an exhausted soldier U.S. collapses on the retaining wall of a bunker in Afghanistan, won top prize at this year's World Press Photo , presides over the show opened today in the Space City room in Vitoria center.

    Among the photos include one of Yonathan Weitzman, first prize for individual photographs, which is the dress of an African girl print against a barbed wire fence after crossing the border between Egypt and Israel with her family.

    This photo collection is part of 'Periscope', an initiative until December 8 to become the capital of Vitoria in photojournalism, picture spread across the eight exhibitions held at different venues around the city.

The photographer Tim Hetherington, Vanity Fair, has won the World Press Photo for best news picture of 2007 with this photo of a U.S. soldier in a shelter in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. "This image shows the exhaustion of a man and a nation, we are all connected to it. It is the image of a man down the road," said jury chairman Gary Knight.

    second prize:
    Second. John Moore, Getty Images , has won first prize in the news with this image of the attack in which Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on 27 December.
